Delhi Air Pollution : Delhi NCR implements stage III of GRAP to combat air pollution
Jagruk Youth News Desk, New Delhi, Written By : Sunil Singh, Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has decided to invoke Stage III of the GRAP in Delhi NCR with effect from 8 AM today in addition to all actions under Stage I and II to prevent further deterioration of air quality.
In wake of the deteriorating air quality of Delhi-NCR, the Sub-Committee for operationalization of the Graded Response Action Plan met yesterday. Various agencies responsible for implementing measures under GRAP and Pollution Control Boards of NCR and DPCC have also been advised to ensure strict implementation of actions under Stage-III of GRAP. Our correspondent reports that an 11-point action plan as per Stage-III of GRAP is applicable from today in the entire NCR.
The measures under Stage III of Graded Response Action Plan include intensifying the frequency of mechanised sweeping of roads and ensuring daily water sprinkling along with dust suppressants. Strict ban will be enforced on earthwork for excavation and filling including boring and drilling works.
All demolition works, laying of sewer line, and water line, and brick and masonry works will be banned. All operations of stone crushers in the entire NCR will be closed down. All mining and associated activities in the entire NCR will also be closed down. Citizens have been advised to walk or use cycles for small distances and choose a cleaner commute. People, whose positions allow working from home, have been advised to work from home.
